Life Lately – Friendships

Coming from being someone who literally walked around with a huge pair of scissors cutting off people at the slightest provocation (snip, snip, away you go✂), to having three wonderful ladies I call my best friends. I’d say my life has taken a turn for the better thanks to the friendships I’ve been able to build and maintain.

I’ve honestly tried to remember how Bola, Fegor, Pretty and I became friends, but I just can’t. Being coursemates didn’t really play a huge role because I didn’t even really start talking to Bola and Fegs until final year of uni.

I think I’ll just go with the fact that God must’ve brought us together 👭👭

So, I wake up one day, and madam Bola has created and added me to a Whatsapp group which consisted of 5 people. Along the line, one person leaves, and it’s just the four of us left.

We literally talk about any, and everything on this group (we’ll probably even plan Pretty’s wedding on the group 😂), and I’ve come to realise that you need to let just a few, very select individuals into your life. People who will build you up spiritually, mentally, financially 😀, and in so many other ways.

The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense.

Also, I can’t stress enough how important it is to have friends that you can talk to about God comfortably. It’s amazing.

This verse👇, has also played a huge role in our friendship.

“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results”.

James 5:16 NLT

Recently, we started weekly Bible studies on the group, and having to go back and study the Bible myself to be able to teach others has been a really good learning experience for me. Also, being able to learn from my friends has helped me grow.

One really cool thing is that everyone has an area of specialty. So we all contribute to helping each other in our own unique ways.

I can go to Fegor for free medical advice (she’s studying medicine), Bola has plans of being a neurosurgeon, Pretty will be a badass virologist in a couple of months 👏, and I have my own plans (which I won’t tell, yet😝). The most important thing is that, we all add value to one another.

I remember sending a voice note to the group where I said I hope we’ll keep being friends even when we’re married and have kids. Then we can meet up at fancy restaurants and our kids will have play dates, and all our husbands will be friends (Gosh, I do the absolute most😂).

I have learnt forgiveness, patience, and love from these three ladies.

This quote is the absolute truth:

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with” – Jim Rohn

I don’t have up to five people, but I know that every time spent with Pretty, Bola and Fegor is time spent well.

Like I said, I always do the most😂

😂
Bola and her motherly advice 😒

PS – Don’t mind the corny group name 😂
Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
